Comment on Bloom: the Spotify killer? by Oliver

Hi Darkjake,

I think their latest development of playlists will hopefully address that issue, as they've pulled all of the music from mflow into the bloom. What I'd personally really like to see is the ability to get playlists from other providers such as Spotify, as I've got thousands of songs in my playlists here. The transition would be incredibly painful if this isn't possible.

Let me know how you've been getting on with it lately - I'd be interested to hear from you! (and anyone else)

Oliver, I'm using this as well and am quite enjoying it however I am having a difficult time using it as a replacement to mflow which I found fantastic. I am still persevering and realise its only a beta with lots of other additions to be made to it (social integration etc) I do miss 'flowing' my music even though I didn't do it a great deal.

I ended up using straws and tape, both of which I could buy really cheaply locally. I have to admit, they had sold out of straws almost everywhere I went, and ended up spending 18 Cedi (around £6) for 100 straws after travelling all over Accra for hours on my own trying to find some... Though later that night I did manage to get 600 for 3 Cedi (£1.30) at the local night market.

They really didn't like the waste though. The day after I saw a number of them were holding straws they had collected from the bin bags, and when we were testing the towers with eggs there were a dozen of them trying to catch it so it wouldn't break, with many asking if they could take an egg home with them to cook. After this, I was a lot more careful with them, and whilst a few did break (which lead to big cheers and shouting!) I gave the remaining eggs out as prizes!

Anyway, I have to say I definitely would recommend doing it. They really did enjoy it and I'm sure they would with you too in Uganda. Great to hear from you, and I hope that you're having an amazing time in Africa!

What kind of materials did you let students use for the tower-building competition? I want to do something like that here in Uganda, but in the UK we always used drinking straws and safety pins and that seems like it would be too wasteful to do on a large scale here.

I think it's a shame there's this attitude in countries like ours, though perhaps it is simply a sign that the education system in that country is a good one, and in places like Ghana their incredibly positive attitude could be because of their limited access to good learning resources.

And thanks, I have been and hope the final coming week will be just as great!

Good advice. If ever I manage to claw together enough money/BA Miles to go anywhere half-decent I shall bear this in mind...
